The story of Pax Orion is set in the Orion Arm, the spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy in which mankind originates. it has been over 2,500 years since mankind was exiled to space, when a catastrophic war annihilated every world and the star of the solar system, leaving nothing but dust and a scar on the cosmic fabric. Now mankind lays fractured across millions of worlds, divided without the unifying figure that is the homeworld, and divergent after over 2000 years of isolation.
It will be an epic scale fantasy set in space where the backdrop is a million worlds and trillions of battleships.
In this setting, mankind is divided and regressed, split off into warring kingdoms, duchies, corporations, warbands, systems, colonies, and empires. Alliances are tense and short-lived and war is a constant. mankind itself has divereged in form, adapting to wildly different worlds in th absence of Earth. Despite the regression of society, technology has stayed advanced and progressive, along with the discovery of the mystical and phsychic forces of the cosmos alongside the physical. Wars here are waged with fleets, weapons, rituals, horror, pageantry, and awe, as the many factions of humanity war for domination over the species,
The story will focus on Markus Tachyon, a young orphan boy from one of the many empires of Orion, along with his robotic companion, Cass, whos is one the rare ancient relics of Earth, a treasure from a time when all human knowledge, science, resources, and ability was unified, making Cass not only a cultural treasure, but a scientific and military one as well.
And so the story follows the two as they naviagte the messy and chaotic realms of Orion while avoiding hunters, warbands, corporations, mercenaries, and empires who seek to take Cass and use her as a weapon.
