Mutants

Abhumans. In the million worlds of the Imperium, across the uncountable billion, trillion human souls, there exist those who have gone aberrant, who have strayed from the sacred human form and gone against the God-Emperor's perfect vision. These creatures are barely considered human, and merely tolerated for their ancesrty of Terran-born true humanity, and their use as servicemen in the many regiments of the Astra Militarum.

Their forms are many, from the brutish Orgyns, the sharp-eyed Ratlings, the wild Beastmen, and horrific Navigators, yet they are all distant descendants of pure humanity, and any further deviation is not tolerated.

Orgryn brute standing menacingly

Ogryns

The brutish Ogryns. These gargantuan brutes tower over ordinary, unaugmented humans and are just as wide in profile. They are by far the strongest of the Abhumans, wielding the heaviest mounted machine guns as if they were dinky lasguns. But, their strength comes at the price of their intelligence. They are slow and dumb, incapable of mental performance beyond the range of a toddler. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, they are the most easily accepted in the ranks of the Imperial Guard, for their size and strength makes them excellent bodyguards, and their simpleness makes for excellet folloowers and devout Emperor worshippers, for blessed is the mind too small for doubt.

Ratlings

The Ratlings are a small and hairy bunch. Physically small, they are incredibly weak, completely incapable of action in the close quarters combat commonly faight by the standard infantrymen of the Imperial Guard. They make up for their weakness with their incrble senses, more specifically, their eyesight. In the battlefield, they hang back, far behind their allies, and snipe the enemy with powerful lasrifles, at ranges and with accuracy far beyond the abailities of an unaugmented human. Outside of battle, their beheavior leaves much to be desired, as they enjoy hedonistic activites such as partying, gambling, and excessive eating.

Beastmen

The vile Beastmen have undergone mutations that have made them more bovine than primate, with thich fur, curving horns, and clacking hooves, they more closely resemble beast of burden than dignifird humans. They are ferocious and fiere, with attributes and abilities that would not be out of place in the most feral worlds of the Imperium. Still, this same ferocity makes them easility susceptible to the temptations of Chaos, and are thus the least welcome in the Astra Militarum.

Navigator peering into the warp

Navigators

The most essential of the mutant abhiumans. The navigaotrs are mutants with psychich third eyes in their forehead that allows them to peer into the warp. They see the eddies and currents of the turbulent warp, and using the light of the astronomicon, guide the ships of the Iperium to their destinations. Because of their vitalty to logistics in the Imperium, they ae the most privelaged of th Abhumans, forming noble navuagtor houses and living in luxury second only to the most prosperous of planetary governors.
